SUNDANCE, Utah — In recent years, this posh mountain retreat has welcomed an entire constellation of stars — including Lindsay Lohan, Kirsten Dunst, Eva Mendes—for reasons that have nothing to do with its famous film festival.

They’re here for Cirque Lodge, with its four-star dining, state-of-the-art recreation and stunning geography. But to get past the front door takes much more than deep pockets. It also requires a wicked addiction.

Not long ago, checking in to rehab was compared to entering boot camp, a no-frills sentence in hardship and humiliation. However, Cirque — and similar high-end programs — have carved out a niche by vigorously promoting the pampering right along with recovery.

But do the odds of recovery increase if treatment comes wrapped in goose down comforter and terry cloth robes?
